How Nova uses AI and protects your data

Nova is optional. GLOW asks before sending personal data to the AI provider, and the rest of the app remains available if you say no.

What Nova is

Nova is GLOW's AI companion. It can use the goals, triggers, check-ins, quit progress, and messages you choose to share to make support more personal. Nova is not a clinician and does not provide medical or crisis care.

Permission comes first

Before GLOW sends personal data to OpenAI for Nova, the app asks for explicit permission. If you choose “Not now,” that information is not sent to OpenAI for Nova and you can still use the rest of GLOW.

What may be processed

If you allow Nova, GLOW may send your chosen name, age range, nicotine use, goals, triggers, identity commitments, wellness and SOS check-ins, quit progress, challenge activity, selfie dates but not selfie images, and the messages you write to Nova.

What to bring to Nova

Nova is most useful when the question includes the real context. You might say: “I keep wanting to vape after tense meetings,” “I slipped when everyone went outside at the party,” or “My mood has been lower this week and my cravings are louder.” Nova can bring together what you share with the cravings, moods, patterns, and progress you log to help you notice connections and choose a practical next step.

Your controls

  • Turn Nova's AI data sharing off in Settings → Privacy & data.
  • Reset Nova's memory without deleting your account.
  • Export your data.
  • Delete your account, with the policy's 30-day grace period.

Provider and retention disclosure

GLOW's Privacy Policy states that OpenAI processes information to generate responses and run automated safety checks. It also states that API data is not used to train OpenAI models unless the API customer opts in, and that standard abuse-monitoring logs may retain prompts and responses for up to 30 days unless a longer period is legally required or needed to prevent harm.
